We are looking for an experienced English Tutor to deliver engaging Functional Skills English programmes, supporting learners to build confidence and achieve recognised qualifications. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping learners overcome barriers and achieve their potential. You will deliver engaging English tuition while providing the encouragement, structure and individual support young people need to progress towards further education, training, employment and greater independence.
The successful candidate will be a confident and adaptable practitioner who can build positive relationships with learners, respond calmly to challenging situations and create an inclusive environment in which every young person feels able to participate and succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Functional Skills English from Entry Level 1 through to Level 2.
- Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons tailored to different abilities and learning needs.
- Motivate learners who may have experienced barriers or disengagement from traditional education.
- Assess and monitor learner progress, achievement, attendance and engagement.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date learner records.
About You
- You will ideally have experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills English up to Level 2.
- A recognised teaching or training qualification (ideally L5 or above).
- A Level 3 qualification in English (minimum).
- Strong lesson-planning, assessment and learner-management skills.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Experience supporting young people with a range of needs or barriers to learning.
- A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
- The confidence to adapt your teaching style to meet individual learner needs.
- Strong communication, organisation and record-keeping skills.
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people.
