Oakley Jane is expanding, and we are looking for reliable, professional and detail-focused Property Inventory Clerks to join our team. Opportunities are available on either an employed or self-employed basis, with full-time and part-time positions considered.
Recruitment areas
We are recruiting applicants based in or within approximately a 20-mile radius of Oxford. This broadly includes: Abingdon, Oxford Town Centre, Headington, Summertown, East Oxford, Kidlington, Bicester, Witney, Woodstock, Eynsham, Wheatley, Thame, Didcot, Carterton and surrounding villages.
Pay and working arrangements
- Employed positions: Salary of £35,000 per year for full-time roles, mileage contribution provided, company iPad and required working equipment supplied, full training and ongoing support. Salary and working arrangements for part-time employed positions will be adjusted according to the agreed working pattern.
- Self-employed positions: Paid per completed job, company iPad and required working equipment supplied, full training and ongoing support. A minimum number of completed appointments will be required, depending on whether the position is full-time or part-time.
The role
The role involves travelling to residential properties and completing:
- Property inventories
- Inventory and check-ins
- Check-out reports
- Property inspections and interim visits
- Key handovers
Daily responsibilities will include:
- Inspecting and accurately documenting the condition of residential properties
- Taking clear and comprehensive photographs
- Recording keys and meter readings where required
- Identifying damage, cleanliness concerns and maintenance issues
- Meeting tenants, landlords and letting agents professionally
- Producing accurate, impartial and detailed reports
- Managing appointments and submitting completed work within the required deadlines
What we're looking for

- Reliable, organised and able to manage appointments effectively
- Able to work independently and meet reporting deadlines
- Comfortable using an iPad and mobile reporting software

- Previous property inventory, inspection or lettings experience would be beneficial, but full training can be provided to the right applicants.
The role is physically active and involves walking throughout properties, using stairs, bending, opening cupboards and taking photographs at different heights. Appointments take place Monday to Saturday, with the first appointments normally beginning at 9:00am and the latest appointments starting at approximately 5:00pm, depending on the service and size of the property. Working days, appointment volumes and minimum job requirements will depend on whether the successful applicant works on a full-time or part-time basis. All applicants will be DBS checked.
