Our client is an established not-for-profit organisation based in Woking, currently seeking a proven Finance Manager to lead their talented team on a part-time basis. This is a high profile and varied role within the organisation, involving close collaboration with the Managing Director and leadership of a talented team consisting of 3 finance people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the finance team (currently 3 reports)
  • Assist MD with the annual budget and quarterly forecast
  • Prepare monthly management accounts & balance sheets, including commentary on any variances vs budget and forecasts
  • Bank and control account reconciliations
  • Preparing accounts for audit and producing draft accounts for the MD
  • Reviewing cash books and identifying actions required to maximise cash position
  • Maintenance of the Fixed Asset register, accurately recording and posting journal entries
  • Prepare quarterly and annual VAT returns
  • Drive improvements to processes & procedures to ensure efficient practices are implemented and maintained

Preferred Candidate Criteria

  • Qualified accountant / qualified by experience
  • Managerial experience and confident leading a team
  • Proven experience in above-specified tasks
  • Strong technical accounting skills with an interest in being involved in commercial aspects i.e. budgets, forecasts
  • Process driven – can suggest and implement improvements to procedures, system usage and controls
  • Experience in a non-profit or charity organisation would be strongly advantageous but is not essential

This part time role can be performed over 4 or 5 days depending on preference.
