Do you enjoy problem-solving, coaching managers and working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same? We are partnering with a large retailer to recruit a People Policy Specialist to join their People Team based in Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with HR, employee relations or policy experience (or a strong interest in this area) to develop their career within a supportive, high-performing team.

What you'll be doing:

  • Providing expert policy guidance and coaching to line managers and employee representatives via telephone, helping to support fair and confident decision-making.
  • Delivering an excellent customer experience by meeting service targets, including response times and satisfaction measures.
  • Supporting the creation of high-quality written communications, including outcome letters and case documentation.
  • Managing Occupational Health referrals, supporting managers through the process and advising on outcomes and next steps.
  • Accurately managing cases and queries through HR systems and shared inboxes, ensuring records are maintained and insights captured to support continuous improvement.

What we're looking for:

  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders over the phone.
  • High attention to detail and strong written communication skills.
  • Experience within HR, employee relations, people policy or a strong interest in developing a career within a People function.

Working pattern:

  • This role would suit someone comfortable working in a retail-facing environment with flexibility around operational needs.
  • Hybrid working - minimum 3 days per week in the Manchester office, Wednesday team anchor day.
  • First 6 weeks training fully office-based (5 days per week).
  • Shift patterns typically 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm or 10am-6pm.
  • Flexibility for occasional late evenings (Tuesday or Thursday approximately 1 in every 6 weeks).
  • Weekend working required on a rota basis (up to every other weekend depending on business need).
