Oakleaf Partnership are working with a leading international financial institution seeking an experienced Software Asset Management Specialist to join its Technology Service Delivery function in London. This is a unique opportunity to build and shape a Software Asset Management (SAM) capability from the ground up within a highly regulated environment.

The successful candidate will lead the governance, optimisation and lifecycle management of software assets across EMEA, helping to establish a robust and audit-ready framework aligned to regulatory requirements including DORA.

This role is ideal for someone with strong ServiceNow SAM experience, a detailed understanding of software licensing and compliance, and a proven track record of delivering end-to-end software asset lifecycle management in the financial services sector.

The role

Working within a globally recognised financial institution with a strong presence across Europe, Asia and the Americas. Technology and operational resilience are central to their business strategy, and they are investing significantly in strengthening governance, controls and service management capabilities.

As a Software Asset Management Practitioner, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive software asset management framework across EMEA.

Responsibilities include:

  • Build and mature a greenfield Software Asset Management capability
  • Manage the full software lifecycle, from onboarding and procurement through to renewal and retirement
  • Develop software lifecycle policies, governance processes and control frameworks
  • Maintain a centralised software inventory using ServiceNow SAM or similar tools
  • Build and manage a software entitlement repository across major vendors
  • Create dashboards and reporting to provide visibility into software usage, compliance and spend
  • Analyse data to identify cost-saving opportunities and licence optimisation initiatives
  • Lead internal and vendor software audits and ensure audit readiness
  • Support compliance with DORA, PRA/FCA, GDPR and other regulatory requirements
  • Work closely with Procurement, Finance, Legal and Technology teams
  • Support integrations with procurement and finance systems such as SAP and Coupa
  • Deliver training and documentation to operational teams
  • Contribute to a multi-year roadmap focused on financial visibility and software optimisation

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience in Software Asset Management within banking or financial services
  • Strong experience using ServiceNow SAM Pro (Flexera or Snow also considered)
  • Hands-on knowledge of software licensing models including SaaS, subscription and perpetual licences
  • Experience managing software audits, compliance and optimisation initiatives
  • Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Experience building dashboards and analysing software usage data
  • Understanding of ITIL, ISO 19770 and software asset management best practice
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements including DORA, PRA/FCA, GDPR and SOX
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable operating in a greenfield environment and building new capabilities from scratch
  • Relevant certifications such as ITIL, CSAM or CITAM are advantageous
