Interim UK Payroll Lead Length: 3-6 months London: Hybrid working, 3 days in the office, 2 at home Rate: between £450 - £600 per day Oakleaf Partnership are partnering with a leading global financial services organisation to recruit an experienced Interim UK Payroll Lead on an urgent basis. This is a critical hire for a highly respected business undergoing a payroll transition. We are looking for an experienced payroll professional with a strong background in UK payroll, with proven experience managing cash-related payroll processes and supporting mobile populations. Experience in Financial Services is essential. Joining immediately, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the continuity, accuracy and smooth running of UK payroll operations during this important period of change. What is the role? You will take ownership of the end-to-end UK payroll function, supporting approximately 400 employees across multiple payrolls, including partnership payroll arrangements. This is a hands-on role requiring an experienced payroll professional who can quickly assess the current environment, build relationships with key stakeholders and confidently manage day-to-day payroll operations from the outset. Key responsibilities include: Managing end-to-end UK payroll processing and partner payments Overseeing outsourced payroll vendor relationships and service delivery Working closely with Tax, Finance, Benefits and Global Mobility teams Ensuring payroll compliance with UK legislation and HMRC requirements Managing payroll reconciliations, controls and audit processes Supporting payroll process improvement and standardisation initiatives Providing expertise on complex payroll matters including internationally mobile employees Maintaining high levels of payroll accuracy and data integrity Acting as the key payroll contact for UK stakeholders and senior leadership Skills & Experience Extensive experience managing UK payroll operations within Financial Services Strong hands-on end to end payroll processing experience Deep knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE, statutory payments, tax codes, pensions and payroll compliance Experience managing outsourced payroll providers Strong understanding of globally mobile employee payroll considerations Experience with partnership or LLP payrolls is highly desirable Workday Payroll experience is advantageous Ability to work autonomously and confidently in a standalone payroll environment Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills Available to start immediately or at short notice Why apply?
