High Oaks Oaklands is an outstanding special school serving the London Borough of Hounslow that provides specialist education to students with severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple difficulties and autism. We have a Primary school (New Oaks) and a Secondary school (High Oaks). Both sites offer state‑of‑the‑art facilities for our students.

Responsibilities

  • Support students with autism and complex needs in the secondary school setting.
  • Provide personal care, including toileting and feeding, as required.
  • Work calmly and patiently with pupils, promoting inclusion and progress.
  • Collaborate effectively with teaching and support staff as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Assist with classroom and transition activities, ensuring the learning environment is safe and accessible.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and care activities.

Qualifications

  • Evidence of experience supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Excellent team‑working and communication skills.
  • Physical fitness and willingness to undertake all aspects of personal care.
  • Willingness to undergo a fully enhanced DBS check and provide references.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people.

Contract and Hours

  • Contract type: Permanent, term‑time only (39 weeks).
  • Hours of work: 31 hours per week.
  • 08:45am – 16:30pm Monday (includes curriculum hour)
  • 08:45am – 15:30pm Tuesday to Friday.

Pay

  • Pay Scale: Hounslow Scale 4 to 5 (points 09 to 15) depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Actual salary: £23,082 to £25,395 per annum.

Additional Information

  • The successful candidate will be required to attend a pre‑employment induction and successfully pass safeguarding.
  • All positions are subject to the satisfactory completion of a 26 working week probation period.
