Birmingham Public Schools is seeking a Principal for Birmingham Covington School which serves students in 3rd through 8th grades. This is a full-time, 11-month position.
QUALIFICATIONS
- The minimum level of education is a master's degree.
- Training should include areas of school administration, supervision, curriculum and child development.
- A minimum of five years' administrative experience and substantial experience at the elementary or middle school level in a variety of leadership roles is preferred.
- Strong background in STEM education, project based learning and design thinking.
- Evidence of the candidate's ability to provide quality leadership must be demonstrated through:
- excellent communication skills;
- a strong sense of honesty and integrity;
- strong problem solving skills;
- the ability to use a variety of leadership styles including both situation and collaborative;
- skill and sensitivity in working with all members of the school community;
- ability to plan, organize and execute the full range of administrative tasks associated with the operation of the school;
- skill in creating a positive, open, enthusiastic and well-organized teaching and learning environment;
- skill in fostering the continued growth of staff members;
- a commitment to community education concepts.
