The role

As a Business Advisory Consultant on the Oakland Futures Programme, you’ll gain hands-on experience working across a range of business advisory services, including project management, business analysis, data management, and strategy. You’ll collaborate with clients and colleagues to tackle complex challenges, combining research, data analysis, interviews, and guided workshops to uncover insights and create value. This is an entry-level role designed to help you explore multiple specialisms during the programme, so you can identify the path that best suits your skills and aspirations. From day one, you’ll also support our sales teams with early-stage workshops and proposals, giving you exposure to client-facing work and real-world impact.

What you’ll do

  • Before joining client work, you'll participate in a 4-week structured training bootcamp to learn about Oakland’s core propositions and offerings, developing foundational skills in research, analysis, and consulting.
  • Rotate through different business advisory roles to explore your interests and identify your best-fit career path.
  • Work with clients to identify opportunities for AI adoption, data platform development, and long-term technology roadmaps.
  • Conduct research, analyse data, and develop insights to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Facilitate workshops and interviews to understand client challenges and shape tailored solutions.
  • Support internal teams with proposals, project planning, and early-stage client engagements.
  • Communicate findings clearly to teammates and clients, presenting insights in a structured and engaging way.

About you

You love working with data and using evidence to inform decisions. You’re curious, proactive, and eager to learn, taking ownership of your development. You’re comfortable with ambiguity and enjoy experimenting, problem-solving, and finding clarity in complex situations. You’re methodical and detail-oriented, organised, and able to meet deadlines effectively. You’re a confident communicator who can present ideas clearly to colleagues and clients. You enjoy collaborating within teams but can also take initiative and work independently.

Qualifications
