Hours: 32 hours per week

Salary: Standard Hours: £16.14phr to £17.38phr Saturdays and Sundays: £17.14phr to £18.38phr Overtime / Extra Hours: £18.14 to £19.38phr Bank Holidays: £24.21phr to £26.07phr

The Role: We are a well-regarded residential care home in Littlehampton seeking a reliable, proactive, and practical Maintenance Operative to join our dedicated team. This is a varied and hands-on role responsible for maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well-presented environment for our residents, visitors, and staff. Working closely with the Properties and Facilities Manager, you will undertake day-to-day maintenance, repairs, compliance checks, and facilities support duties, helping to ensure the home operates safely, efficiently, and in line with all relevant regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out day-to-day maintenance and repair tasks throughout the care home.
  • Ensure the building, grounds, equipment, and facilities are maintained to a high standard.
  • Complete routine maintenance and compliance checks in accordance with company policies and statutory requirements.
  • Conduct water temperature monitoring and maintain accurate compliance records.
  • Carry out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and maintain testing documentation.
  • Undertake weekly fire alarm testing and maintain associated records.
  • Operate and support integrated building systems, including Fireco door systems and nurse call devices.
  • Carry out repairs to furniture, fixtures, fittings, and wheelchairs as required.
  • Install and wall-mount televisions and equipment.
  • Undertake painting, decorating, and minor refurbishment works.
  • Carry out light gardening and external maintenance duties.
  • Safely use ladders and maintenance equipment in accordance with health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain workshops, storage areas, and workspaces in a clean, safe, and organised condition.
  • Report defects, hazards, and maintenance concerns to the Properties and Facilities Manager.
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and service providers when required.
  • Receive deliveries and ensure materials and equipment are stored safely.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, testing, and compliance records.
  • Support inspections, audits, and regulatory visits.
  • Promote a safe environment for residents, visitors, and colleagues, always respecting privacy and dignity.
  • Attend mandatory training and comply with all company policies, safeguarding requirements, and health and safety regulations.
