Introduction
Oakington Manor is a large, exciting, 3‑form entry primary school with over 700 pupils. We are looking for 5 Teaching Assistant Apprentices to join our team, where you will support educators in creating a positive and effective learning environment and contribute to the overall development of a dynamic educational experience.
About the Employer
Oakington Manor is located in Wembley, London's most ethnically diverse borough in the shadows of the iconic Wembley Stadium arch. The school became an academy in April2016 and is now part of Excellence in Education, alongside our federated school Furness Primary School.
What You’ll Do
- Raise standards of achievement for students by providing support through 1‑1 and group activities, whilst also supporting teaching staff.
- Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self‑reliance.
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom.
- Support programmes for teaching literacy and numeracy and assist pupils to access the full curriculum.
- Supervise pupils in the playground and organise playtime activities.
- Ensure the physical welfare of pupils, assist pupils with their physical needs as appropriate, and agree on support where necessary.
- Support with extracurricular activities ranging from breakfast and lunch clubs to sports days and school trips.
Training Outcome
Upon completing a Teaching Assistant apprenticeship, individuals can progress to become Specialist Teaching Assistants, specialising in areas such as special education behaviour management. Attaining a Higher‑Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) role is another option, involving increased responsibilities in classroom management and lesson planning. Some Teaching Assistants may pursue further qualifications and transition into teaching through programmes like PGCE or SCITT.
