An opportunity has arisen to join our Vet Tech team at Oakhill Farm Vets in Preston, Lancashire. Our established Vet Tech service provides support to our vets and farmers in monitoring and improving animal health. The position consists of a mix of time spent on farm as well as time in the office.
An opportunity has arisen to join our Vet Tech team at Oakhill Farm Vets in Preston, Lancashire.
Our established Vet Tech service provides support to our vets and farmers in monitoring and improving animal health. The role involves assisting with current projects including our successful Calf Club service in addition to developing new services to support our farm clients. In addition, the successful candidate will work as an Approved TB tester (ATT) carrying out TB testing on our client’s farms.
This full-time position consists of a mix of time spent on farm as well as time in the office, so a flexible approach is required. Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be a great communicator, hard-working, self-motivated and very enthusiastic.
An ATT qualification is desirable but not essential as full training as well as an ongoing development programme will be provided. However, the following criteria are essential to train as an ATT. Candidates must:
- Be a minimum of 18 years old,
- Complete a satisfactory DBS check,
- Have a minimum of 6 months livestock handling experience.
In addition, the successful candidate will hold three GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in Mathematics, English and in a science subject or in Food Production or alternatively have 3 years performance in a government regulatory role.
