A privately owned SME business is looking to bring in an FD on a part-time basis to help provide strategic direction to grow the business to the next level. There is a finance team in place, and you will help to mentor and develop them. You will work closely with the Board and senior leadership team, providing strategic and hands-on financial leadership to support the next phase of growth. This is a high-impact role in an ambitious business looking to scale.

What You’ll Do:

  • You’ll take ownership of the numbers and turn them into decisions.
  • You’ll improve visibility around margins, pricing, stock and cash, strengthen financial controls, and build reporting that genuinely drives the business forward.
  • Longer-term planning, budgeting and forecasting sit with you, along with guiding and developing a small finance team so the basics run smoothly and the function becomes more effective.

What You Need:

  • Proven experience as a Finance Director, ideally within an SME or owner-led business (£20m+ turnover).
  • Commercially astute, with the ability to turn numbers into actionable insight.
  • Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on.
