Assistant Management Accountant
Mid Suffolk, between Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket | Fixed term, 15 months | Hybrid
Most Assistant Management Accountant roles give you a small part of the month end. This one gives you something to own.
It also comes with a better package than most fixed-term roles. There's an employer pension contribution of up to 10%, 33 days' holiday, a cost-of-living pay review and hybrid working.
This is a well-established, multi-site business, and its finance team needs someone to support the management accounts for one of its operating divisions. You'll prepare and post month-end journals, produce and analyse balance sheet reconciliations, and help put together the monthly management information packs.
The part you'll own outright is the monthly overtime and bonus payroll. You'll process, analyse and submit it, reconcile the control accounts, and work with operational managers to sort out queries. You'll also handle stock. That means reconciling stock movements to physical counts, allocating materials to the right projects, and helping to coordinate the year-end count.
It's a role for someone who likes being close to the operation. You'll spend as much time working with payroll and operational colleagues as you do in Excel, and you'll be expected to question processes and suggest better ways of working.
You'll be AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA or CIMA, with finance experience and strong Excel skills. Payroll experience would help.
