We are looking for an experienced individual who can support a pupil who has experienced a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). The pupil is currently in Year 11 (Form 5) and will be transitioning to Year 12 (Form 6) in September 2026. She has in‑class support and 1:1 support outside lessons. We need someone who is kind, compassionate and understanding of the needs of the young person, but also encouraging of independence and knows when to allow the young person to take the lead in their own learning. They must be able to work in a team alongside the staff at the school, including the Learning Support Department, to ensure all needs are met in each subject. We are looking for someone who can support all aspects of school life; help with organisation and logistics of the day‑to‑day running of the timetable, supporting both the pupil and the staff with academics and also providing a pastoral side when needed.
You Must Have:
- UK classroom experience
- Experience working with children (ideally KS4/5)
- Adaptable, flexible and willing to learn
- Availability for a long‑term position
- Ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff
- Enhanced DBS on the updated service
Key Accountabilities:
- Work with a named child, as directed by the class teacher and/or SENCo, to support A‑Level subjects and learning
- Establish a supportive, caring and secure relationship with the young person, promoting respect, self‑esteem and a positive, inclusive whole‑school ethos
- Develop knowledge and understanding of the specific academic and medical needs of the young person and respond to them effectively
- Assist the class teachers/SENCo with the planning, development and delivery of suitable learning strategies for the pupil
- Support class teachers to design, create and produce learning activities, materials and resources to support aspects of the curriculum or particular learning outcomes, and assist and support the young person in using them
