Oakdale Group is a not-for-profit community-based organisation providing high-quality clinical services across Harrogate, Leeds, Halifax and nationwide. The group offers specialist assessments for autism, ADHD, developmental trauma and attachment, alongside psychological therapies for children, young people and adults. Most services are commissioned by the NHS, local authorities and schools, with additional private and charitable funding.
Role Overview
The role is to undertake face-to-face neurodevelopmental assessments (autism and ADHD) for children and/or adults as part of a multidisciplinary team. This hybrid position involves home working and working from one of our centres in Harrogate, Horsforth or Halifax. Oakdale offers full- or part-time employed roles with flexible hours.
Responsibilities
- Conduct parental/developmental interviews exploring the client’s developmental history related to autism, ADHD and learning, including structured interviews, ADI‑R, ACE/ACE+ or DIVA/Young DIVA assessments.
- Deliver play-based and activity sessions with the young person/adult as part of neurodevelopmental assessments.
- Administer ADOS‑2 and QBCheck assessments.
- Perform cognitive assessments (e.g., WISC‑V, WAIS‑IV – for psychology applicants only).
- Carry out school observations and liaise with schools and other professionals.
- Provide additional psychometrics and report writing: full neurodevelopmental assessment reports.
- Attend multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to MDT discussions.
About You
- Excellent IT skills, including G Suite.
- Experience using practice management systems to record clinical notes, book appointments and manage outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to support and empathise with adults, families and young people.
- Clear communication of assessment outcomes.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
- Experience of autism and/or ADHD assessments in children and young people.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary assessment team.
- Availability to attend one of the Oakdale centres at least 1–2 days per week.
Qualifications
Essential- HCPC registration.
- Professional qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
- ADI‑R trained.
- ADOS trained.
- DIVA/Young DIVA trained.
- Experience conducting developmental history interviews.
- Experience undertaking neurodevelopmental assessments (autism and/or ADHD).
