Job Summary

Location: Harrogate/Hybrid.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with a minimum part‑time option of 22.5 hours across three days.
Salary: £39,474–£56,000 per annum (FTE), dependent on experience.

Main Duties

Perform high‑quality neurodevelopmental assessments for children, young people and adults. The role may involve autonomous single‑clinician assessments or collaborative work within a multidisciplinary team, governed by Oakdale standards and professional regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake comprehensive neurodevelopmental assessments in line with Oakdale pathways, professional standards and national guidelines (e.g., NICE).
Conduct developmental history interviews, observe behaviours and carry out any further assessment activities suitable to your background, training and documented competency.
Gather, analyse and integrate multi‑source information to construct robust clinical formulations for diagnostic decision‑making.
Formulate diagnostic outcomes and clinical conclusions independently where appropriate, ensuring alignment with professional guidelines and formal sign‑off against the internal framework.
Participate actively in multidisciplinary (MDT) discussions and panel formulations to co‑produce final diagnostic conclusions, with oversight from senior clinicians as required.
Use and oversee service‑approved technology solutions (dictation, transcription, automated documentation) to enhance pathway efficiency, retaining clinical accountability for all outputs.
Communicate assessment outcomes and recommendations with clients, families and external professionals in a clear, professional and compassionate manner.
Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and professional clinical records in accordance with organisational and regulatory standards.
Complete clinical documentation, reports, risk assessments and administrative tasks within agreed timescales.
Demonstrate clear clinical reasoning and evidence‑based decision‑making that meets quality assurance standards.
Participate in clinical audits, quality assurance processes and service improvement initiatives.
Work within professional scope, safeguarding frameworks and clinical governance, escalating concerns promptly.
Manage individual workloads and caseloads to optimise pathway flow and service delivery.
Monitor capacity and raise operational barriers or service risks to management in a timely manner.
Show flexibility regarding working practices, designated clinical locations and evolving service priorities.
Maintain active registration and comply with codes of conduct of the relevant regulatory body.
Engage in continued professional development, lifelong learning and reflective practice.
Contribute to team development, peer learning and service improvement initiatives.

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

Knowledge of neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., Autism, ADHD) and assessment processes.
Excellent communication skills, able to convey sensitive information and build professional relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Strong organisational, prioritisation and time‑management skills, with a record of meeting clinical and operational deadlines.
Proficiency in digital systems and technology, including electronic patient records.

Desirable

Direct competency or certification in neurodevelopmental assessment tools and measures (e.g., ADOS‑2, SCQ, ADI‑R, DIVA, Young DIVA).

Qualifications

Essential

Core professional qualification and current, active registration with one of the following: NMC (Nursing), HCPC (Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Clinical/Forensic/Counselling Psychology), Social Work England (Social Work).
Direct competency or certification in neurodevelopmental assessment tools and measures (e.g., ADOS‑2, SCQ, ADI‑R, DIVA, Young DIVA).

Experience

Essential

Minimum of one year of direct, autonomous experience delivering neurodevelopmental assessments across single‑clinician or MDT pathways.
Experience in a mental health, neurodevelopmental, neurodiversity‑focused or related clinical setting.
Experience producing high‑quality clinical documentation and robust multi‑source formulations to professional standards.
Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to clinical formulations and shared decision‑making.
Experience operating within safeguarding, risk management and clinical governance frameworks.
