A good relevant education to GCSE level is essential
A good relevant education to A level or equivalent is desirable
Further qualifications or training relevant to the role such as; An NVQ level 2 or above Teaching Assistant qualification
Qualification or experience of working with children/young adults requiring speech and language support
Evidence of wider professional development
Previous experience of working with children in an educational setting
Experience of using Information Technology to support students in the classroom environment or other similar setting
Experience of supporting SEN students in a mainstream classroom environment or other similar setting
Experience of supporting SEN students in a mainstream classroom environment or other similar setting
Experience of working with children with SEMH
Successful experience of working within a secondary school / education setting
Knowledge of behaviour management strategies
Good interpersonal skills with both adults and children
Ability to follow instructions and respond to management directions
Knowledge of strategies to recognise and reward effort and achievements along with the ability to encourage students to become self-reliant and independent learners
A good working knowledge of ICT
