Oak Tree Surgery and Pensilva Health Centre are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic qualified Dispenser to join our expanding friendly and dynamic team. The successful candidate will be based at Pensilva Health Centre 3‑4 days per week (Monday‑Friday, days to be confirmed) between 8am‑6pm for a 27‑36 hour per week contract. The role involves processing prescriptions in accordance with practice policy and extant legislation, supporting the Dispensary Lead to deliver a high level of service, and working collaboratively with the multi‑disciplinary team to achieve the practice’s strategic objectives. The closing date is 30 June 2026.
Responsibilities
- Check all medicines dispensed, ensuring there are no discrepancies.
- Dispense medications safely and accurately to registered patients in the local community.
- Collect prescription charges in accordance with dispensary protocol.
- Maintain stock levels within the dispensary and liaise with the Dispensary Lead to facilitate reordering.
- Receive and store supplies in accordance with current policy, maintaining the cold chain where applicable.
- Ensure controlled drugs are dispensed in accordance with practice policy.
- Disposal of returned or out‑of‑date medicines in a safe manner.
- Process all repeat prescriptions within a 5 working‑days timeframe.
- Provide patients with advice regarding all prescription matters.
- Process prescription requests via email, face‑to‑face, and online.
- Assist the Dispensary Lead in preparing monthly returns.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.
- Maintain accurate records, reading coding entries appropriately.
Person Specification
- Ability to fulfil criteria outlined in the Job Description.
- Level of English language competency and communication skills necessary to perform this role safely and effectively.

Qualifications
- Candidates must have completed the Level 2 Dispensary/Pharmacy NVQ qualification and completed their 1000 dispenser training hours. Candidates who do not meet this criteria need not apply.
