We are looking for a Commercial Finance Manager to join our Swindon head office, where the finance function and executive team are based. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for providing financial planning and analysis across the Marketing, E-commerce, IT and Finance functions, while also managing the partnership between these teams and the wider finance function. We offer a hybrid working model, with 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home. You will be the key finance partner for the relevant Directors across these departments. In some cases, the role will initially be hands-on as analysis and procedures are developed to support stakeholders but will quickly become strategic as you extract value from the information available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Turn financials into a compelling business story which is readily understandable across a varied population of stakeholders, and links to business strategies.
  • Develop and articulate a clear understanding of the business drivers and key performance indicators, particularly E-commerce bookings drivers and Marketing ROI, and act to control & improve these.
  • Work closely with the Marketing function to evaluate marketing effectiveness and ROI via pre/post/test/control analysis, control group measurement, and econometrics.
  • Work closely with the accounting team to ensure the financial results of your assigned functions are prepared and reported robustly and timely.
  • Provide commentary on performance against target and prior year. Deliver insightful analysis of results through real-time, short-term, timely reporting. Improving the understanding of trends, risks and opportunities across the company and enhancing ability to action plan, and course correct.
  • Maintain scorecards that monitor agreed strategic KPIs covering sessions, sales, profitability, and other metrics.
  • Work with stakeholders to review and challenge the weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual P&L performance of the functions and departments within them.
  • Track and reforecast performance across multiple scenarios, to provide input to rolling forecasts.
  • Undertake ad hoc financial reviews, and commercial decision support. Ensure post-investment-reviews are undertaken for major decisions.
  • Over time, to develop further cross-functional business understanding, this role may also take on the preparation of broader daily and weekly company reporting tasks.

Skills and Experience

  • CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified accountant with post-qualified experience, educated to degree level.
  • Previous post-qualified experience in a similar environment is preferred, and experience partnering with Marketing or E-commerce teams is advantageous but not required.
  • Advanced Excel skills and understanding of data reporting systems.
  • Excellent analytical and due diligence skills, ability to challenge and validate information to ensure robustness of information presented.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Confident in dealing with all levels within the company, including senior management, and non-finance specialists.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills. Ability to prioritise work, and work well under pressure in a results driven environment.
