Leading a team, identifying ways to keep them focused and on track, you'll need to act independently and think on your feet, finding solutions and calling upon your previous experience to make sound management decisions. You'll be given full autonomy in the role to build and develop your team, searching for and implementing efficiency and developing better ways of working, to further improve our overall customer experience.
The successful candidate will be able to coordinate a fleet of 6 vehicles (3.5t maxi vans) and ensure and maintain compliance in all aspects of the Transport legislation including EU and UK domestic rules. You must have good communication skills, basic Health and Safety knowledge and be able to manage a team. We're looking for someone with some experience of leading a team and we can provide training and support to help develop your skills. There may be some travel to Normanton in the first few months for training.
This role is based in our small Inverness Depot and is for 40 hrs per week - site operations scheduled Monday to Friday (no weekends) between 0600am to 1800pm.
Key Responsibilities:- To advise/teach staff on safe and proper operating procedures, relevant checks, etc.
- Maintain accurate staff and vehicle records.
- To assess and directly support the Warehouse operation.
- Ensure that all fleet and driver records are compliant with all aspects of DVSA.
- People management, such as performance reviews, staff development, disciplinary and grievance handling.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as required.
- Previous transport/logistics management experience.
- Ability to work accurately, with good attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and proven ability to motivate and manage a team of people.
- Experience of managing or working in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Be able to demonstrate ability to cope in challenging situations.
- IT literate with knowledge of WMS systems.
- Ability to produce, understand and report on operational performance information.
- Responsibility for P&L.
- Able to cope with change and manage own workload and priorities.
- Knowledge of relevant H&S, HR legislation and good practice.
- Management CPC / OLAT qualification is desired but not essential.
