Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Crude Commercial Analyst through January 12th at 11:59 p.m. Chevron Supply and Trading (S&T) provides a critical link between the market and Chevron’s upstream, downstream, and chemicals companies. S&T delivers commercial support to crude oil, products, and natural gas production operations, as well as to the refining and marketing network.

We are seeking a Crude Commercial Analyst to join our trading team. This role is embedded within trading teams and is responsible for analyzing and interpreting a wide variety of data sources, reports, and market intelligence to provide actionable insights and opinions that support trading activities. The successful candidate will combine deep market fundamentals expertise with advanced technical and digital skills to drive commercial value and innovation.

Responsibilities
  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve supply and demand balances using fundamental analysis modeling and statistical tools.
  • Design, support, and enhance data-driven models and digital/data science solutions to increase profitability, speed, efficiency, and reduce costs and risk.
  • Utilize techniques in data cleansing, mining, predictive analysis, and data visualization to translate complex data into clear, actionable market intelligence.
  • Collaborate with business subject-matter experts and global trading teams in London, Houston, and Singapore.
  • Develop and communicate short/medium-term views of the crude oil market through analysis of internal and third-party reports, price structures, and market intelligence.
  • Effectively communicate detailed market analysis both verbally and in writing to local and global teams.
  • Pilot and integrate advanced digital tools including machine learning, predictive analytics, and real-time data feeds to enhance trading performance and uncover new opportunities.
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks such as tender and arbitrage economics, country or competitor analysis, and identify market opportunities and trends.
  • Develop a network of market contacts to enhance market intelligence.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in energy trading, market analytics, or related roles.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications (especially advanced Excel, Power BI including DAX, PowerApps, Power Automate).
  • Experience with SQL and Python for data management, automation, analysis, and visualization.
  • Digital mindset and innovative thinker with a proven track record of using technology to deliver solutions, efficiencies, and commercial value.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to manipulate and interpret a wide range of data.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen and time management skills.
  • A desire to learn and understand the commodity trading business you will be supporting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of global crude oil & products markets and refining processes.
  • Experience in fundamental modeling (building and maintaining complex supply & demand or refinery models; use of statistical tools and regression modeling to improve forecasting and results).
