Job Description
About the role:
Join our team at O-I as aForming Process Specialist, where you’ll play a key role in driving operational excellence and product quality on the forming line. in this position you will have the opportunity to lead the IS machine setup process by managing forming process variables to ensure stable, safe, and high-quality operations. Also, collaborate closely with the Line Leader to identify and implement continuous improvements in both process performance and team capabilities. In addition, will support the development of forming line personnel through hands‑on guidance and knowledge sharing.
This is an on-site position based in our Brampton plant.
Key Responsibilities & What You Will Be Doing
Leading Safety: You will be actively leading all aspects of safety compliance in the forming department, applying policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure workplace.
Managing Process Variables: You will analyze and manage all machine process variables—including blank temperatures, gob length, front zone glass temperatures, gob weight controller settings, and XPAR IR-D—to bring a disciplined and data-driven approach to process stability and improvement.
Driving Quality: You will be engaged with the Line Leader to monitor job quality performance. Collaborating with plant subject matter experts, you will respond to low-quality outcomes by identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, and refining job setups for sustainable results.
Overseeing Ware Inspection: You will ensure that personnel assigned to the line inspect ware from active production daily, identify appearance and defect issues, report them appropriately, and support remediation through coaching and guidance.
Providing Technical Leadership: You will lead job setups and machine operations during job changes, stabilizing and enhancing performance through hands‑on technical support.
Improving Asset Uptime: You will be actively involved in maintenance activities to boost equipment reliability. This includes preventative tasks such as section unit changes, section PMs, expendable refractory replacement, combustion filter replacement, conditioning burner maintenance, and mechanism replacement.
Qualifications
Key Requirements:
You have 5+ years of experience in the Forming Department with specific areas of tenure including:
- Shift experience and IS machine lead (Upkeep +)
- Experience with job change activities such as: Loading job setups, Setting up sections, Machine phase , Refractory expendable changes and handling, Forehearth operations
- You are a good communicator and understand that teamwork is key to a team's success
