An excellent opportunity has now arisen for a Team Assistant to join a well-established Family team, supporting across Bedford and Milton Keynes offices. This is a dual-office support role, ideal for someone already working within a legal environment who is looking to strengthen their experience within Family law, in a supportive and professional firm.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing matters from file opening through to file closure, including compliance, billing, credit control, archiving and record keeping
- Audio dictation and document production
- Scanning and allocating post, ensuring lawyers are notified of incoming communications
- Managing outgoing post (paper and electronic)
- Organising and maintaining electronic documents in line with departmental protocols
- Managing document release requests
- Extensive diary and inbox management for fee earners
- Proactively updating lawyers on task progress and deadlines
- Supporting office management duties when required (printing, stationery, reception cover)
- Handling reception overflow calls
- Providing cover for other Team Assistants as required
- Undertaking department-specific duties where applicable
Only candidates with a minimum of 1 year's relevant legal experience will be considered. Experience within Family law is highly desirable. You must have your own transport, as this role requires regular travel between the Bedford and Milton Keynes offices.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year's experience working within a legal environment
- Family law experience highly desirable
- Good understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong time management skills
- Proactive, self-motivated and calm under pressure
- Full driving licence and access to your own vehicle
