We’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to help deliver robust, manufacturable products for Nyobolt’s growing customer base. This role sits at the intersection of mechanical, electrical and battery system design.

What you’ll do

  • Design mechanical components and assemblies for electrically integrated products, including battery systems
  • Use top-down 3D CAD modelling (Onshape experience is a bonus)
  • Develop low-cost, high-volume components using DfM best practices (sheet metal, plastics, machined parts, weldments, etc.)
  • Define technical requirements, specifications and project timescales in collaboration with customers and internal teams
  • Apply engineering analysis (tolerance stacks, thermal, structural CAE) to guide and validate designs
  • Produce detail drawings for prototype and volume production, owning cost, mass, BOMs and material selection
  • Lead mechanical design release, FMEA and validation activities
  • Support prototype builds, production ramp-up and contract manufacturers
  • Work with suppliers to specify and deliver purchased components
  • Support and mentor junior engineers

About you

  • Experience in product mechanical design with electrical integration
  • Familiar with PCBs, low-voltage wiring and high-voltage conductors (battery experience is a strong plus)
  • Strong DfM mindset and experience designing for volume manufacture
  • Comfortable working in cross-disciplinary and, ideally, regulated environments
  • Bonus experience: MATLAB, FEA/CFD, GD&T, PTC Onshape, Arena, APIS IQ, fixture design.
