This is an excellent opportunity, working on a variety of projects whilst learning about CNC machining as well as gaining a full qualification and having a guaranteed full‑time job as a CNC Machinist after 4‑years.
Hours and Duration
- First year: 37.5 hours per week (Monday‑Friday) 8:30am–4:30pm.
- Second to fourth year: 40 hours per week (Monday‑Friday) alternating shifts – 6am‑2pm / 2pm‑10pm.
- Workload: 37 hours 30 minutes per week.
- Duration: 3 years 6 months.
- Start date: Tuesday 1 September 2026.
What you’ll do at work
- Learn through hands‑on experience in various departments.
- Develop understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing techniques, quality, inspection and warehouse operations.
- Participate in departmental placements and projects with HR & Technical Trainer.
- Attend college for Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship studies during first year.
- Transition to permanent placement in a CNC department from second year.
- Set up, operate and program CNC machines.
- Ensure work meets company standards, safety and environmental regulations.
- Support line manager with additional tasks to meet departmental objectives.
Training
- Complete statutory health and safety, environmental, ethical and sustainability training.
- Learn to prepare, set up and operate conventional and CNC machines.
- Apply risk assessment, hazard identification, inspection, quality assurance procedures.
- Read and interpret engineering documentation and data.
- Apply engineering, mathematical and scientific principles to machining processes.
- Plan and organise own work and resources; maintain work area and manage consumables.
- Conduct fault‑finding, diagnostics and troubleshooting, escalating where necessary.
- Communicate with colleagues and stakeholders, apply continuous improvement and team‑working principles.
Requirements
- GCSE in English (Grade C or 4 equivalent).
- GCSE in Maths (Grade C or 4 equivalent).
- Share any additional relevant qualifications or industry experience.
