Trainee Accountant

Reporting To | Finance Manager
Location | The role will be based at our manufacturing Site in Leicester.
Hours | Day Shift: 08.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday with a Daily 1-hour lunch break, contracted to 37.5 hours per week
The Trainee Accountant Role
As a Trainee Accountant, you’ll gain hands-on experience in core accounting functions while studying towards a professional qualification. This role offers a structured pathway into the accounting profession, combining technical training, client exposure, and mentorship from experienced professionals.
Trainee Accountant Main duties include:
· Assist in preparing monthly financial and management accounts
· Perform tasks including journal entries and ledger reconciliations
· Prepare and submit VAT returns
· Participate in audits and help resolve queries
· Input data into business accounting software (ERP System)
· Monitor operational risks and report key issues to management
· Provide analysis on technical accounting projects and assist with regulatory reporting
· AP & AR involvement
· Carry out general administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, agreeing intercompany balances,
supporting the finance team with month end deadlines and any Ad Hoc duties
· To act professionally in accordance with the company policies and procedures
Trainee Accountant Desired Skills and Qualifications:
· Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field (2:1 or higher preferred)
· Strong numerical and analytical skills
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
· Proficiency in Mirosoft Excel and accounting software
· Willingness to study towards either AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualifications
· Attention to details and commitment to accuracy
