NYKays are seeking dedicated and caring PMLD Support Teaching Assistants to work with children and young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) in primary and secondary school settings. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about providing high-quality, person-centred support to pupils with complex needs, helping them access education in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment.
The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD
- Support pupils with complex physical, sensory, medical, and communication needs
- Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility (training provided where required)
- Support communication using AAC, PECS, symbols, and sensory-based approaches
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and medical professionals
- Follow EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
- Promote dignity, independence, and wellbeing at all times
About You
- Experience supporting children or young people with PMLD, complex needs, or disabilities (school, care, or residential settings)
- Calm, patient, and compassionate approach
- Comfortable supporting with personal care and physical needs
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential — full training provided
