We are looking for an experienced Part‑time Personal Assistant/carer for school holidays, weekends and an occasional afterschool support for a 10 year old non‑verbal boy who has profound autism & ADHD.
We need a kind, understanding, approachable person with extensive experience in a similar role, caring on a 1:1 basis for a child or young person.
The care will be provided within the family home most of the time.
You must be willing to adapt to the boy's communication style (hand gestures and eye contact).
Duties: Safeguarding at all times, eventually taking him for local walks, swimming etc.
Help with choices of snacks/drinks.
Engage in a 1:1 with communication activities ie; bubble play, watching DVD's, indoor trampoline, helping him with his vestibular and deep pressure sensory needs.
Responsible for all daily care needs during working hours, helping him get dressed, personal care and helping him eat safely
Requirements: Own transport is essential due to the location of family's home.
An enhanced DBS.
Experience in working with children with special needs/autism .
Due to his neurodiversity he has no sense of danger, the PA will need to be fit and able to react quickly during certain situations.
