At NY Highways, we're looking for a motivated and ambitious Trainee Supervisor to join our Highways Operations team. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your leadership skills, gain industry-recognised qualifications, and progress through our structured career grade pathway whilst helping to deliver essential highway services across North Yorkshire. As a Trainee Supervisor, you'll support the delivery of operational activities across key service areas including:
- Capital Schemes
- General Maintenance
- Winter & Surface Treatments
- Cyclical & Drainage Operations
You'll work alongside experienced Supervisors and Senior Supervisors, gaining valuable hands-on experience and responsibility while developing the skills needed to progress within the role.
What you'll be doing
- Supervise day-to-day highway maintenance and improvement works.
- Support the planning and programming of labour, plant, materials and resources.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
- Carry out site inspections, inductions, toolbox talks and safety checks.
- Monitor progress of schemes and maintain accurate records and reporting.
- Work closely with contractors, stakeholders and partner organisations.
- Coach, mentor and motivate operational teams.
- Assist in managing budgets, resources and work programmes.
- Help deliver an excellent service to North Yorkshire's communities.
Experience within highways, construction, civil engineering or a related industry would be beneficial, but we are also keen to hear from candidates with transferable supervisory experience who are looking for a new challenge.

- Experience of delivering projects and/or supervising teams. Ideally within Highways, Construction or related activities
