Join NY Highways’ new Property Services division! Location: Countywide, North Yorkshire. Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours/week). Salary: From £36,236 (£34,796 + £1,440 market supplement) per year* + opportunities for overtime.

This role is within NYH Property, which operates independently from the highways maintenance side of NY Highways. While NYH Property is part of the wider NY Highways group, this position focuses solely on property maintenance and construction across a range of private, public and commercial buildings, not highways or road infrastructure.

About the Role

You’ll work on a mix of capital projects and responsive maintenance across a diverse portfolio of commercial properties. From emergency repairs to planned upgrades, your work will help keep essential infrastructure running smoothly across North Yorkshire. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll be part of a supportive team, delivering high-quality plumbing and heating services while ensuring safety and compliance at every step.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Installing and repairing plumbing and heating systems across commercial sites.
  • Responding to emergency callouts and participating in our out-of-hours rota.
  • Supporting capital projects and planned maintenance programmes.
  • Using and maintaining tools and equipment safely, including mobile towers and low-level access gear.
  • Collaborating with supervisors and stakeholders to ensure efficient job completion.
  • Contributing to project planning, including risk assessments and method statements.
  • Mentoring apprentices and junior staff.
  • Reporting progress using handheld devices and ensuring compliance with regulations.

What We’re Looking For

  • NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing (or equivalent experience).
  • CSCS Gold Card.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience in plumbing and heating installations and repairs.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather.
  • Flexibility to travel across the county and participate in on-call rota.
  • Enhanced DBS check (Children’s Barred List).
