We are expanding our External Works team and we're looking for a highly skilled individual with experience delivering quality highways and civil engineering projects.

From major drainage improvements and kerbing schemes to paving and public realm works, you'll play a key role in projects that improve communities across North Yorkshire.

The role is specifically working for the county's Highways Service, so travel as part of the role will only ever be within North Yorkshire, a big benefit if you want to limit work related travel time.

  • What you'll be doing
  • High-quality paving, kerbing and drainage installation works
  • Delivering highways construction and improvement schemes
  • Reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
  • Working as part of a skilled site team on projects ranging from local improvements to major civil engineering schemes
  • Operating plant, tools and specialist equipment safely and effectively
  • Ensuring all work is completed to the required quality, safety and performance standards
  • Working across North Yorkshire, with travel to sites throughout the county (company vehicle provided) Experience working in highways maintenance, construction, civil engineering or groundworks
  • Confidence and competence in high-standard finishing works including paving, kerbing and drainage
  • Knowledge of highways construction schemes and site operations
  • Experience working on medium to large-scale construction projects
  • Strong health and safety awareness
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • NRSWA Operative accreditation (Modules 01-08)
  • Plant certification such as NPORS or CPCS
  • SSSTS (Site Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme)
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings
