As Accounts Assistant Manager, you will play a key role within the accounts team, supporting a varied portfolio of clients including limited companies, sole traders and partnerships. The role provides a strong balance of technical work, client management and team leadership within a collaborative environment.
Working as part of the wider accounts team, you will review and oversee work prepared by junior staff while remaining hands on where required. You will act as a trusted point of contact for clients, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard and within agreed deadlines, while supporting the development of the team around you.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and supporting a diverse client portfolio across multiple entity types
- Reviewing statutory accounts, corporation tax returns and VAT returns ahead of partner sign off
- Clearing review points and resolving technical queries efficiently
- Supporting accounts preparation, tax computations, personal tax work and elements of tax planning
- Acting as a main point of contact for clients, providing practical and commercial advice
- Assisting with the management, mentoring and development of junior team members
- Allocating work and monitoring progress to ensure deadlines and budgets are met
- Using cloud accounting software and advising clients and colleagues on best practice
The successful candidate will be ACA or ACCA qualified, or equivalent, with proven experience gained within an accountancy practice. Strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills and the confidence to support and guide junior staff are essential. A proactive, organised and client focused approach will be key to success in this role.
