NXTGEN is recruiting a Finance Assistant to join a successful and highly diverse organisation based in North Norfolk. This Finance Assistant opportunity offers far more variety than a traditional transactional role, with exposure to several businesses operating across property, land, leisure and other commercial activities. You’ll join a friendly and established finance team, working closely with both the Management Accountant and Finance Business Partner. With multiple businesses to support, the role will give you a broad understanding of how finance operates across a complex organisation while allowing you to take real ownership of the day-to-day accounts.
What will you be doing?
As the Finance Assistant, you’ll help keep the transactional finance function moving, ensuring information is processed accurately and queries are resolved efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing purchase invoices from receipt through to processing
- Supporting supplier payments across multiple businesses
- Raising sales invoices and recording incoming payments
- Completing bank postings and petty cash reconciliations
- Keeping financial information organised, accurate and up to date
- Taking ownership of the accounts inbox
- Building positive relationships with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders
- Providing wider support to the finance team during busy periods
What are we looking for?
The successful Finance Assistant will already have some experience within accounts or financial administration, particularly involving purchase ledger or sales ledger. You don’t need to know everything from day one, but you will need a good transactional foundation and the confidence to manage your own workload. You’ll be someone who enjoys getting things right, follows tasks through to completion and remains organised when priorities change. Strong communication skills are also important, as you’ll regularly deal with finance queries from people across the organisation and externally.
This Finance Assistant role would suit someone who is:
- Experienced in purchase ledger, sales ledger or general accounts support
- Comfortable using accounting systems and Excel
- Accurate, dependable and naturally organised
- Confident managing several tasks at once
- Proactive and willing to take responsibility
- Keen to broaden their experience within a varied finance environment
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of an organisation with a strong local presence, an interesting mix of commercial activities and a genuinely positive working culture. The successful person will gain valuable exposure across multiple businesses while being supported by an experienced finance team.
