This Accounts Senior position offers a varied mix of accounts, bookkeeping, tax and client facing responsibilities, working with a diverse portfolio of Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies.

It would suit a qualified or QBE accountant with solid practice experience who enjoys working closely with clients and wants a role where they can take ownership of their work.

The successful Accounts Senior will have the opportunity to manage a broad range of client work, from preparing year end accounts through to dealing directly with HM Revenue & Customs and supporting clients with their day to day accounting queries.

The firm offers a good level of flexibility too, with the opportunity to work from home two days per week once probation has been completed.

As Accounts Senior, your responsibilities will include

  • Preparing Sole Trader, Partnership and Limited Company accounts for a varied portfolio of clients
  • Preparing accounts in accordance with FRS 102A and FRS 105
  • Drafting associated tax computations alongside the preparation of client accounts
  • Providing bookkeeping services for clients where required
  • Supporting clients with bookkeeping queries and helping them resolve day to day accounting issues
  • Liaising directly with HM Revenue & Customs on behalf of clients
  • Advising clients on a range of accounting and tax related queries
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and becoming a trusted point of contact
  • Managing your own workload and ensuring client work is completed accurately and within relevant deadlines
  • Using Xero to complete accounts and bookkeeping work

The ideal Accounts Senior will have

  • At least 5 years of experience working within an accountancy practice, with strong experience across accounts preparation.
  • You will ideally be ACA or ACCA qualified, although strong QBE candidates with the right practice experience will also be considered.
  • Good knowledge of preparing accounts for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies.
  • A strong understanding of FRS 102A and FRS 105, alongside experience preparing associated tax computations.
  • You will be confident dealing directly with clients and HM Revenue & Customs and comfortable providing advice on a range of accounting queries.
  • Strong experience using Xero is important, with knowledge of Quick Books, Sage, Excel, Dext or CCH also being advantageous.
  • You will be organised, detail focused and able to manage your own workload across a varied client portfolio.
  • A proactive and approachable personality, with the ability to build strong and lasting client relationships.

If you are an experienced practice accountant looking for a varied Accounts Senior position where you can work with a diverse client portfolio, take ownership of your work and benefit from a supportive and flexible working environment, I would be keen to hear from you.

  • Salary will depend on experience, with flexibility for candidates requiring study support
