This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and growing tax team as a Tax Assistant Manager, supporting a diverse private client portfolio while developing your advisory and leadership skills. This role would suit an experienced tax professional looking to take the next step into a more senior, client-facing position with exposure to both compliance and advisory work, alongside responsibility for mentoring junior staff.
As Tax Assistant Manager, you will work closely with the Tax Partner and senior members of the Private Client team, supporting the delivery of compliance and advisory services to a varied client base. Clients include high net worth individuals, non-resident individuals and Trustees, offering interesting and technically varied work.
You will manage your own portfolio of clients while contributing to wider tax planning projects and supporting the development of the tax team.
Key responsibilities will include:- Preparing and reviewing self-assessment tax returns, including capital gains computations and property income schedules
- Managing the tax return cycle, monitoring progress, deadlines and tax payments
- Presenting completed returns and related advice clearly and confidently to clients
- Drafting tax planning advice and supporting ad hoc advisory projects
- Reviewing inheritance tax forms and supporting higher level planning work
- Managing and developing client relationships, identifying opportunities for additional services
- Taking responsibility for billing and portfolio management
- Providing technical support to non-tax colleagues
- Reviewing work prepared by junior staff and supporting their development through coaching and feedback
- Contributing to business development and representing the firm at networking events where appropriate
The successful candidate will be ATT qualified with at least two years post qualification experience, or qualified by experience. Holding or studying towards the CTA qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
