NXTGEN is pleased to be working with a fantastic accountancy practice who are looking to bring an experienced Accounts professional into an Assistant Manager position. This is a great opportunity for someone who is ready to take the next step in their career, take genuine ownership of a varied client portfolio and become a key part of the wider team.
You will have the opportunity to build on your existing practice experience, working closely with clients, overseeing assignments and supporting the development of more junior members of the team. It is a role that offers plenty of variety and responsibility, whilst giving you the support and exposure needed to continue progressing your career.
As Assistant Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing your own varied portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for assignments, deadlines and delivery
- Preparing and reviewing accounts and tax work across a varied client base
- Reviewing work completed by more junior team members and providing support and constructive feedback
- Preparing and reviewing medium sized sets of accounts and tax returns
- Supporting clients with financial reporting, VAT and general accounting queries
- Building strong relationships with clients and developing a good understanding of their businesses
- Identifying opportunities to provide additional support and services to clients
- Supporting Managers and Partners with more complex technical and advisory work
- Getting involved in the training and development of more junior colleagues
- Supporting with performance reviews and development plans across the team
- Taking part in interviews and helping to identify future team members
- Keeping assignments on track, managing WIP and ensuring deadlines and budgets are met
The ideal Assistant Manager will have:
- ACA, ACCA or CA qualification, although QBE candidates will also be considered
- Solid experience gained within an accountancy practice
- Strong experience across accounts and tax assignments
- Confidence dealing directly with clients and managing your own portfolio
- The ability to review work and support more junior members of the team
- A genuine interest in progressing into a management position and developing your leadership skills
- A proactive and personable approach, with the confidence to take ownership and get involved
