Salary: £12ph – Overtime paid at x1.4 & x 1.8 for Bank Holidays.
Attendance Bonus: £42/week
Hours: Part-Time, 8pm – 5pm. 4 days on & 4 days off rota

The Lakes Free Range Egg Company is a market-leading egg producer and packer based near Penrith. The welfare of our hens and the standards we set are very important – something our staff works hard to maintain.

What we do: Hen welfare is paramount. It is our job to ensure the girls are consistently living in conditions of the highest standard, and that our eggs are collected and sorted – also to the highest quality standards. Working on our poultry units, duties will cover the welfare and maintenance of the free range hens, and their outdoor ranges, plus the collection, sorting and packing of eggs.
Skills needed: Previous agricultural experience is an advantage but not essential as full training is provided. Reliability and excellent timekeeping, multi-tasking, and good attention to detail. A willingness to learn and a positive manner is essential.
Your role & responsibilities:
- For biosecurity reasons, you must not keep any birds at home
- Collect eggs from the conveyor belt
- Sort and pack eggs into trays
- Pack eggs onto pallets
- Update egg records/complete basic paperwork
- Check & maintain housing and outdoor ranges
- Walking the hen shed to see if the girls are OK
- Letting hens onto their range
- Hen husbandry tasks (no previous training necessary as job training will be given)
- Daily cleaning down of egg stores
- Maintain hygiene & biosecurity standards
