Engineering Project Lead
Location: Carlisle
Salary: £60,000, dependent on experience

The Opportunity
NXT Recruitment is looking for an experienced Engineering Project Lead to join a well-established organisation operating within a technical, asset-intensive environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong engineering background who enjoys taking ownership of projects, coordinating multiple stakeholders and delivering improvements from initial planning through to completion.
You will play an important role in managing a varied portfolio of projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and within agreed budgets and timescales.
Key Responsibilities

Manage engineering and improvement projects from initial planning through to completion.

Develop project schedules, budgets and delivery plans.

Coordinate internal teams, external contractors and specialist suppliers.

Monitor progress, expenditure and project milestones, addressing issues as they arise.

Work closely with operational and technical teams to identify requirements and agree solutions.

Oversee installation, implementation, testing and final handover activities.

Ensure projects meet relevant safety, quality and technical standards.

Identify opportunities to improve processes, equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

Maintain accurate project documentation and provide regular progress updates to key stakeholders.

Manage competing priorities while ensuring projects remain on track.
About You
We're keen to hear from candidates with experience in engineering project delivery, technical coordination or a similar project-focused role.
You will ideally have:

A qualification in engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Previous experience managing engineering, infrastructure or technical improvement projects.

Strong organisational and planning skills.

The ability to manage budgets, schedules and competing priorities.

Experience coordinating contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

A practical approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with people at all levels.

A strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
Experience with project management methodologies or professional qualifications would be advantageous.
