NXT Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established and busy automotive workshop in Carlisle to recruit an experienced Consultant Technician. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled technician who thrives on diagnosing complex faults, working with modern vehicle technologies, and supporting the development of junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out advanced diagnostics, fault finding, and repair work across a wide range of vehicles
- Work on complex mechanical and electrical systems, including hybrid and electric vehicles (EVs)
- Accurately identify issues using the latest diagnostic equipment and technical data
- Complete all work to a high standard in line with manufacturer and safety guidelines
- Manage workload effectively to support workshop efficiency and turnaround times
- Mentor and support apprentices and junior technicians, helping to develop their technical skills
- Collaborate with the wider team to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction
- Stay up to date with evolving automotive technologies, particularly EV systems
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior or Master Technician within a busy workshop environment
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability with experience handling complex repairs
- Experience working on electric and hybrid vehicles is essential
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair)
- EV/Hybrid certification (desirable but not essential)
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a team
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to support and develop others
Desirable Skills
- Manufacturer training or accreditation
- Experience in a consultancy or specialist technical role
- Familiarity with advanced diagnostic equipment and software
