Salary: £35,000 - £37,000 per annum, depending on experience

Bonus & Overtime: Monthly bonus for achieving labour targets & Saturday hours at time and a half

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm, plus Saturday rota 8:30am - 12:30pm

NXT Recruitment is working on behalf of our client to recruit an experienced Class 4 MOT Tester / Vehicle Technician to join their team in Carlisle. This is a great opportunity for an experienced technician who enjoys MOT testing and is looking for a role where testing will be a key part of their day-to-day work.

The role is predominantly MOT focused, with the successful candidate carrying out Class 4 MOT tests to a high standard. When the MOT bay is not in use, you will also be expected to carry out general technician duties including servicing, maintenance and repairs.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Class 4 MOT Tester who is confident carrying out MOT tests independently and is also comfortable undertaking general mechanical work.

The Role

You'll be responsible for carrying out MOT tests efficiently, accurately and in line with current DVSA requirements. When the MOT bay is available, you'll use your wider mechanical skills to support the workshop with servicing, maintenance and repairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out Class 4 MOT tests in line with DVSA requirements
  • Completing MOT-related paperwork and ensuring records are accurate
  • Carrying out servicing and routine vehicle maintenance
  • Diagnosing faults and completing repairs
  • Carrying out mechanical inspections and identifying issues
  • Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop
  • Providing a professional service to customers
  • Working efficiently to meet agreed monthly labour targets
  • Supporting the wider workshop team when required

You'll ideally have:

  • A valid Class 4 MOT Tester qualification
  • Previous experience working as an MOT Tester / Vehicle Technician
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and practical experience
  • Experience with servicing, maintenance and vehicle repairs
  • Good attention to detail
  • A professional and reliable approach
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • A strong focus on quality and customer service
