NXT Recruitment is working with a well-established manufacturing business in Carlisle that is looking to recruit a shift electrician to join their on-site engineering team. This is a long-term opportunity for an electrically biased engineer who enjoys a varied role within a fast-paced production environment.
The Role
As a Shift Electrician, you will be responsible for maintaining site equipment and machinery to ensure minimal downtime and safe, efficient operation. The role will involve a mix of planned preventative maintenance, reactive fault finding, and continuous improvement work.
Key responsibilities
- Maintaining, repairing and replacing a wide range of site equipment including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and electromechanical machinery.
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across the site.
- Responding to breakdowns and completing reactive maintenance efficiently.
- Fault finding and diagnostics to minimise downtime and production losses.
- Supporting site projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identifying opportunities to improve existing systems and processes.
- Installing and maintaining single-phase, three-phase, and control circuits including industrial lighting, sockets, motors and safety circuits.
- Supporting apprentices and colleagues where required.
- Working in line with health and safety standards at all times.
About You
This role would suit someone with an electrical background who is comfortable working in a manufacturing or industrial environment and confident working both independently and as part of a team.
You will ideally have:
- A hands-on electrical background.
- Strong fault finding and problem solving skills.
- A high standard of workmanship and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- A well organised approach with strong time management.
- A good understanding of preventative maintenance systems.
- A positive approach to health and safety.
