Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Up to £49,000 per annum (including shift allowance)
Working Pattern: 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week. Rotating shift pattern across Monday to Friday. Night shifts are required approximately once every 4 weeks, and the last shift will always be a Thursday at the latest. Note: Overtime is available, along with quarterly performance bonuses and an annual performance bonus.
We are currently recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Wigton. This is a hands-on and varied role within the engineering team, focused on maintaining plant equipment, improving processes, and ensuring high levels of operational performance across the site.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance and Engineering Support
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on plant and equipment
- Responding to breakdowns and restoring machinery within set timeframes
- Ensuring machinery operates efficiently to meet production targets
- Maintaining detailed maintenance records and updating internal systems
- Escalating ongoing issues affecting downtime or performance
- Supporting continuous improvement and equipment optimisation
- Electrical and Mechanical Duties
- Performing electrical maintenance in line with safety and compliance standards
- Supporting mechanical maintenance tasks where required
- Assisting with the installation, modification, and upgrade of machinery
- Ensuring all work meets regulatory and hazardous area requirements
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship across all engineering activities
- Process Improvement and Project Work
- Contributing to projects aimed at improving production efficiency
- Analyzing breakdown and maintenance data to improve reliability
- Supporting modifications to plant and equipment to increase output
- Working collaboratively with the wider engineering and production teams
- Taking part in both team-based and individual project work
- Engineering qualification (HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent)
- Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Good understanding of electrical systems and industrial equipment
- Basic mechanical knowledge or willingness to develop these skills
- Hands-on approach and comfortable working on the tools
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and organisational skills
