NXT Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting for an HGV Vehicle Technician on behalf of a long-established and highly respected business based in Longtown. This is an excellent opportunity to join a company known for its strong family values, supportive team culture, and commitment to maintaining high standards across its operations.
Working within a modern workshop environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a varied fleet of vehicles including HGVs, LGVs, vans, trailers, and cars. This role would suit an experienced technician looking for long-term stability and excellent earning potential, although applications are also welcomed from candidates currently working towards their full qualifications.
The role will involve working 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, covering dayshift and backshift patterns, with Saturday mornings on a rota basis and participation in an out-of-hours on-call rota.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Carrying out servicing, maintenance, and repairs across a range of vehicles including HGVs, LGVs, trailers, vans, and cars.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
- Completing preventative maintenance work to a high standard.
- Ensuring all repairs and maintenance comply with company and legislative requirements.
- Communicating effectively with customers and internal teams.
- Keeping up to date with DVSA inspection standards, MOT legislation, and industry developments.
- Delivering high standards of workmanship and customer service at all times.
- Supporting workshop operations and maintaining a safe working environment.
What will you bring?
- Previous experience within an HGV or commercial vehicle technician role preferred.
- Relevant mechanical engineering qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Full UK driving licence essential.
- Class 1 or Class 2 licence would be advantageous.
- A positive attitude and willingness to continue learning and developing.
