Are you an experienced machinist or production leader ready to take the next step? We’re recruiting on behalf of a renowned engineering business that delivers high-performance components for development projects across the globe. Based at their state-of-the-art facility in Cumbria, this is a fantastic opportunity to lead a skilled team at the heart of the action.
Key responsibilities:
- Supervise day-to-day operations within the Machine Shop
- Manage and assign workload to meet production deadlines
- Enforce safety standards and quality procedures
- Support and develop machinists, including training and performance reviews
- Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure production targets are met
- Coordinate with Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing teams
- Write and prove programs using HyperMill, Fanuc and Heidenhain controls
- Oversee maintenance of shop equipment
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the department
About you:
- Qualified to Level 3 (or equivalent) in Machining or Engineering
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and ability to read technical drawings
- Experienced in programming HyperMill, Fanuc and Heidenhain systems
- Previous leadership experience within a machine shop environment (ideally 2+ years)
- Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach
- Clear communicator with a team-first mindset
- Competent with Microsoft Office and standard business systems
