We're recruiting for a Security Officer to join a leading commercial estate in Carlisle. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a professional, supportive team responsible for ensuring the safety and security of tenants, visitors, and the wider site. This position works on a rotating four-on, four-off shift pattern with twelve-hour shifts. The standard rotation begins with two shifts running from 5.30pm to 5.30am, followed by two shifts running from 6.30pm to 6.30am. There is one variation to this pattern. If the first shift of the four begins on a Saturday, the rota changes for that block. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a calm, proactive approach to maintaining site safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly to any incidents or alarms, ensuring swift and appropriate action is taken.
  • Manage entry and exit points across the site, ensuring access control measures are followed at all times.
  • Verify visitor and vehicle credentials in line with site protocols.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of site activity and security incidents.
  • Act as the first point of contact in the event of an incident, emergency, or alarm activation.
  • Investigate breaches or suspicious activity and report findings clearly and promptly.
  • Support with conflict management and use de-escalation techniques where necessary.
  • Assist in the implementation and testing of emergency response and evacuation plans.
  • Liaise with emergency services and local authorities as required.
  • Participate in drills and contribute to ongoing improvements in site safety procedures.
  • Provide support and reassurance to tenants, visitors, and staff.
  • Handle security-related enquiries in a professional and helpful manner.
  • Promote a culture of vigilance and collaboration across the site community.
About You:
  • Previous experience in a security or site safety role preferred.
  • Confident using CCTV and other surveillance systems.
  • Strong observation skills and high attention to detail.
  • Calm under pressure with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communicator, able to deal with people at all levels.
  • Professional, trustworthy, and committed to maintaining confidentiality.
  • A clean DBS check required & driving license is required.
Why Apply?
  • Join a respected and well-managed estate with a strong sense of community.
  • Opportunity to play a key role in maintaining site security and safety.
  • Supportive environment with opportunities for professional development.
