The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced SAP EWM Consultant to join a major supply chain transformation programme. This role offers the opportunity to become the SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) Subject Matter Expert, leading the design, implementation and optimisation of SAP EWM across a large warehouse and manufacturing environment. You will work closely with business stakeholders, project teams and third-party partners to deliver innovative warehouse management solutions while supporting the wider SAP S/4HANA roadmap. The position is primarily project-focused, with occasional third-line support responsibilities following implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the SAP EWM Subject Matter Expert across the organisation.
- Gather and analyse business requirements, documenting current and future warehouse processes.
- Design and configure SAP EWM solutions aligned to SAP best practice and business requirements.
- Lead and coordinate external implementation partners and consultants.
- Deliver functional, integration and user acceptance testing.
- Produce functional, technical and end-user documentation.
- Support cutover, go-live activities and transition into business-as-usual support.
- Provide third-line support for SAP EWM where required.
- Contribute to the ongoing SAP S/4HANA roadmap and future enhancement projects.
- Work collaboratively with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for continuous improvement across warehouse operations.
Essential Skills & Experience
- A minimum of two years' experience working with SAP EWM, SAP WM or SAP LE.
- Previous involvement in at least one SAP EWM implementation project.
- Experience working within SAP ECC6 and/or SAP S/4HANA environments.
- Strong understanding of warehouse processes including inbound, outbound and internal warehouse operations, together with:
- Value Added Services (VAS)
- Quality Inspection
- Expected Goods Receipt (EGR)
- Wave Management
- Physical Inventory
- Posting Changes
- Experience configuring warehouse organisational structures, handling units, packaging specifications and master data.
- Knowledge of SAP EWM Post Processing Framework (PPF).
- Experience integrating SAP ERP with SAP EWM.
- Knowledge of SAP configuration and system enhancements.
- Experience across analysis, solution design, testing, implementation and documentation.
- Experience supporting data migration activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Self-motivated, organised and able to work independently as well as within project teams.
Desirable Experience
- SAP EWM Certification.
- Experience implementing Labour Management, Yard Management or Cross Docking.
- Experience with SAP mobile technologies including SAP Console, ITS Mobile, RFID and RF Framework.
- Experience developing or supporting interfaces using RFC, ALE, IDoc or Web Services.
- Knowledge of SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM).
- Broad cross-functional SAP knowledge.
- An additional European language would be advantageous.
