We are partnering with a leading logistics organisation undergoing a significant transformation as it centralises and modernises its IT function. This is a pivotal appointment at Group level, offering the opportunity to shape and lead technology across a complex, fast-moving operational environment.
This is not a role for someone easing into leadership - it requires an experienced IT Director who understands the realities of logistics operations and can operate with pace, authority, and resilience. You will bring hard-earned experience (“battle scars”) from the sector and the credibility to influence both board-level stakeholders and frontline operations.
As Group IT Director, you will take ownership of the organisation’s end-to-end technology landscape, driving the centralisation strategy while ensuring stability and performance across all business-critical systems.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading the transformation and centralisation of the IT function across multiple business units
- Owning and optimising core logistics systems, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transport Management Systems (TMS)
- Overseeing IT infrastructure, networks, and service delivery across a distributed operational footprint
- Building a scalable, resilient, and secure technology environment aligned to business growth
- Managing and evolving relationships with offshore IT partners and third-party providers
- Establishing strong governance, processes, and service standards across IT
- Acting as a strategic partner to the executive team while remaining close to operational realities
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience operating as an IT Director (or equivalent senior leadership role) within a logistics or supply chain environment
- Deep, hands-on understanding of WMS, TMS, and the broader logistics technology ecosystem
- Strong infrastructure and service delivery background across multi-site operations
- Demonstrable experience leading IT transformation and centralisation programmes
- Experience managing offshore IT partners and outsourced service models
- Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels - from boardroom discussions to warehouse floor challenges
- A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset with the resilience to navigate complexity and change
You are someone who has seen what works - and what doesn’t - in logistics IT. You bring credibility, decisiveness, and the ability to quickly assess, stabilise, and improve. You’re comfortable stepping into ambiguity, making tough calls, and driving results at pace.
This is a rare opportunity to take on a high-impact, group-level role in an organisation at a critical point in its transformation journey. You will have the autonomy, scale, and challenge to make a lasting difference.
If you’re ready to step into a role where your experience truly matters from day one, we’d like to hear from you.
