An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified candidate to join our team as a Supply Chain Area Manager based in our National Distribution Centre in Newport IP5. The successful candidate will support the Regional Supply Chain Manager to develop and implement warehousing services. The post holder will be responsible for managing staff within the Newport IP5 Warehouse. This role is integral to the wider NHS and relies on good engagement and relationships with others. The post holder may work at any of the Health Board sites and fulfil any job allocated, commensurate with the grade. The ability to travel between sites is required. Speaking Welsh is desirable, but Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The post holder will work closely with the wider management team to ensure stock is managed effectively and in line with organisational policies and procedures. Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the day‑to‑day running of Bridgend Regional Warehouse.
  • Manage stock control processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and compliance.
  • Lead, support and develop warehouse staff, fostering a positive working environment and promoting a culture of safety, efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor performance and identify opportunities for service improvements and innovation.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners across the NHS network.
  • Ensure Health & Safety standards are maintained to the highest level.

Qualifications (Essential)

  • Graduate Diploma level or equivalent in Supply Chain and Logistics Management or demonstrable experience.
  • Specialist knowledge of SCL&T planning/scheduling.
  • Experience managing a busy and diverse department.

Qualifications (Desirable)

  • Recognised Health & Safety Qualification or demonstrable experience.

Experience (Essential)

  • Good understanding of all legislation relevant to the Warehouse & Supply Chain service.
  • Experience managing issues within the NHS.
  • Detailed knowledge of Transport & Logistics.

Experience (Desirable)

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety processes and requirements.

Skills (Essential)

  • Logical approach to problem solving, able to identify appropriate routes and make decisions within legislation, regulations & Trust procedures.
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to establish productive working relations with colleagues and main external contacts, and where necessary, with patients and public.
  • Ability to travel between sites.

Skills (Desirable)

  • Flexible approach according to the needs of the department.
  • Methodical approach to administrative work.

Welsh language skills are desirable.
