South Wales Area – Cardiff, Bridgend, Newport. This is a Bank position (not permanent) with no guaranteed hours. Service area and duties: North Wales Area – Wrexham, Denbigh; Mid Wales Area – Powys, Machynlleth; South Wales Area – Cardiff, Bridgend, Newport; West Wales Area – Swansea, Carmarthen. The service sorts, delivers and collects mail/medical notes and transports blood products and pathology samples in accordance with regulatory and quality standards. Core service operates 8am–6pm Monday to Friday; some services operate 24 hours a day.

Main duties: NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership provides Clinical Logistics Transport Service across all Health Boards in Wales via its Health Courier Service, and is seeking a HGV Driver to join this service based in the South Wales area, serving all Wales. On average, the service handles over 120,000 items of mail/medical notes per week and transports over 5 million movements of samples annually. This role requires an HGV Cat C licence and CPC. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are welcome to apply.

• Qualifications

• Essential criteria: Full Driving Licence, Moving and Handling techniques, and general awareness of risk, health and safety issues and responsibilities.
• Desirable criteria: Good interpersonal skills, able to establish productive working relationships with colleagues, external contacts, patients and members of the public.

• Experience

• Essential criteria: Driving a range of vans/light commercial vehicles, Dealing with customers and liaison with internal and external NHS contacts, patients and public.
• Desirable criteria: Ability to work alone with minimum supervision or as a member of a team.
